Gone Feisin'

This weekend was the CCE Feis. I competed in the 8-hand, Prizewinner Reel, Prizewinner Slip Jig, Novice Treble Jig, and Novice/Prizewinner Traditional Set (although looking back, I think I should have been in the Advanced Beginning comp there. Oh well). The feis was make extra special because L, L's mom, and my mom and dad came and watched me dance!!! YEAH!

All in all I did well. The competitions were small, which was surprising, and that always makes for a hollow victory. I paced second in my reel - a shock, because I definitely thought AT-W or JR should have placed above me. Even L's mom, who knows nothing about dancing, commented that the woman who placed first didn't have as much energy or high jumps.

I tied for third in my slip jig- again, if I thought I did well in ANY dance, it was the slip jig! Treble jig was a third. In my opinion, I shouldn't have placed at all. There were only five people in the competition and I obviously forget the step in several spots. I slipped twice in my set dance and got the comment "close your rocks." Well, it appears I have a lot of work for Old Dominion Feis. At least I will NOT be competing the treble jig. I formally renounce that dance and will take on the hornpipe as my new favorite.

The weekend was fun. I got to spent some time with my parents and L's mom. We relaxed and were able to introduce the families - always a good thing.

I guess I will take this time to announce that I am beginning Weight Watchers (or a bastardized form of WW that I can gleen from various web sites) next week. The problem seems to be that according to the points calculator, I am allowed basically no points. I foresee lots of popcorn or vegetables. You will see lots of posts about points and grumbly tummies. Get excited!

***A special thanks to my dance teachers, MH, MM, and DO, for putting up with my questions in class, dealing with my constant insecurities, and showing my parents around the Feis on Sunday (that was DO)***

Welcome back... and another CCE post is appropriate (I've got one, M1 has one... I'm sure there are others!)

Maloo - I didn't get to tell you that I was sitting in the bleachers over by stage one and I could hear your traditional set perfectly way over there - well done!

I used this site - www.fitday.com - if you are interested. Seemed to be pretty easy to use. Be sure to eat more on the days you dance!
